The zodiac constitutes the very bedrock of our field. How did the original zodiac split into two? Which zodiac is correct, or can they both be correct? In attempting to answer these questions, I hope to shed light on the controversy between the two zodiacs. An explanation is provided for how tropical and sidereal zodiacs were originally one, and why they split apart following the discovery of precession. It’s a fascinating story with profound implications.
