One of the most mysterious and complicated doctrines in Hellenistic astrology is the technique for finding the overall ruler of the birth chart, called the Master of the Nativity. We will explore some of the different methods for finding this important ruler, as well as debates about the application of the technique and what it could be used for, which ranged from determining the length of life to identifying the guardian spirit.
